Yes – every single dog we see does make us miss Napa. But, she is definitely too high strung to fit in here.
Today we were total bums. This is the vacation (versus research) portion of our trip. We did nothing more than amble about town. We had breakfast, then went to the pharmacy. We wanted to buy the equivalent of Aleve. Found it, then learned we needed to pay cash for under 20 euros. Wayne decided to dash back to our room to get more cash & I waited in the pharmacy like a hostage. It looked more like a cosmetics boutique. All the medications are kept behind the counter even though there is very little you need a prescription for. The main part of the store is filled with high end (mostly French) beauty products and toiletries.
Then we wandered along the coastline past a few of the many pristine public beaches. Even though my phone said it never got above 76 degrees today, it felt much hotter than that. Dry heat but intense sun.
We stopped for lunch at a pizza place on the beach that the realtor raved about. We split a pizza and it was fabulous. More like what we would call a flatbread with incredibly fresh-tasting toppings.
The beaches are full of a wide variety of tourists. You’ve got your hard-body dudes playing “football” over a volleyball net. Plenty of fluffy older folks. And, everything in between. Very few kids since schools are in session everywhere. They keep the beaches very clean and there are many (quite good) food and drink options right there.
After lunch we went back to our favorite wine bar, The Tasting Room, to sip and people watch again. After doing a bit of shopping, we headed home to clean up for dinner and do some laundry. You can’t be much more lazy (or boring – sorry) than that.
Dinner was at 5 Entidos about a 1 minute walk from the apartment. Again – delicious food and excellent service for a reasonable price; even in this high-end resort town. Glad we had made reservations as they had to turn people away on a Thursday night.
