Today was Sunday and our last full day in Cascais. Having come to the conclusion that we probably wouldn’t choose to live in this general area, we are ready to move on. It’s been a great visit. But, too hot and too touristy for us to live in full-time.

We just puttered about today. It is such a different sort of vacation when you know you’ll be back soon – to live. No pressure to hit all the sights and get your money’s worth. We went out and had a (relatively) healthy lunch. The heat at that time of day just zaps us. So, after lunch, we went back to apartment to just veg and pack.

We went out again a little after 7:00. The nicest time of the day here, in our opinions. We walked around trying to find a place for dinner. Our first choice turned out to be closed on Sundays. Our second choice was packed. So we opted to repeat a place where we’d had lunch yesterday. We ate light and were back in the room by 9:00.

Today was the last day of the Lumina light festival. The town is still crowded but people are less rowdy than last night. We can still hear the “show” with the funky music coming from the church a block away.  Since few places have A/C, you learn to sleep with all the windows open and learn to sleep through all kinds of street noise – such as the bars dumping the day’s worth of wine bottles into a dumpster…

"Healthy" lunch with excellent scratch-made apple juice. (sumo de maca)
The golden hour just before sunset.
Every town seems to have a Pizza Hut and a Burger King and a McDonald's - and they all seem to do well.
