There are so many reasons that we love our new home town of Matosinhos. One main reason is because it is so wholesome and family-oriented. The community has so many events meant to either bring families out or to show their civic pride and spirit. Sundays on the promenade along the beach are always lively. Today it was even more so because of this event that just popped up. Matosinhos Mar de Desporto – Sea of Sports. The weather was ideal for the event which, I am sure, is a send-off to Summer as kids will be starting school soon. Today is also the last day of a 10-day event where the town celebrated it’s title of “World’s Best Fish.” This event included wine & tapas booths, live music every night, and 70+ restaurants offering special-priced menu options.  We thoroughly enjoyed one evening listening to a hokey Queen cover band and drinking 2.50 euro wines – in spite of the rare thunderstorm.

Today along the promenade:

My thoughts, exactly!
How cute are they? Love the droopy sox.

An off-shore supply ship that comes & goes often - parked next to the cruise terminal.

World’s Best Fish event: 3 weekends of free concerts every August.

Yes - the fish really is the world's best!

"No to the breakwater without guarantee for the future of Matosinhos." The city wants to add length to the breakwater to accommodate more ships and locals fear it will hurt the 27 surfing schools here.

If you think someone might be able to use what you don't want, you leave it next to the dumpster. Need a tie?
