We’ve lived here in Portugal for over nine months now. We really started feeling like “locals” when some of the family came to visit over the last few weeks and we got to show them around our new life. There is no doubt that our daughters still have mixed feelings about our decision to relocate so far away. That’s understandable. We also don’t expect them come to love this place like we do after just a short visit. It takes time to see past the graffiti and crumbling buildings and appreciate the people, pace of life, and this country’s many other charms. We’re just thrilled they were willing and able to visit. Being tour guides at our age is exhausting, but rewarding. Hoping for more visitors.
