Photos from our visit to the town of Coimbra.

The most visited attraction in Coimbra is the gilded Baroque library, Biblioteca Joanina, on the campus. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside. It is stunning.
Liars! Coffee does not equal "bar."
How the female students dress. They have to be sweltering.
Student groups called tunas perform all over the country for coins.
Inside the old cafe next to the church (igreja.)
Gorgeous 12th century Romanesque cathedral Sé Velha and adjoining monastery.
The old cafe to the right was an awesome spot for people-watching.
Skull of a martyr inside.
Continuing my photo theme of catching cleaning ladies inside ancient sites.
The first two kings of Portugal are buried in this church.
The choir loft was spectacular.
Our return to Porto was delayed 2.5 hours due to a fire on the tracks somewhere between Coimbra and Lisboa. I felt bad for folks with flight connections, but it was not a big deal for us retired folks!
