Nau Vitória, Nasoni, & Contumil - Metro Stops #8, #9, & #10

There’s nothing like choosing a dull, overcast afternoon to knock-out the three most boring metro stops out of 82. We hope…

Nau Vitória – Metro Stop #8

“Build it and they will come. ” Only they didn’t.  If they don’t film movies here, they should. Our hunch is that when they built this extension to the metro line in 2010, this stop was to give service to the then nearly-new railroad operations center located here. They probably thought other businesses & apartments would follow. But, nine years later, it feels pretty desolate. Yet you can see the Levada stop with the big mall not far away. This metro stop is big, modern, and clean with automatic escalators. It is below grade with a round-a-bout above it. There are plenty of spaces for commuter parking but just a handful of cars on a Monday afternoon. There was almost no traffic on the road other than a student driver that circled a couple times.

Desparate for photos. A fire hydrant.
Lots of 8' tall grasses here.
The operations center for the railroads in the region. Like NASA inside. The only major building in the area.
You can't be superstitous in Portugal. Lots of black feral cats cross your path

Nasoni – Metro Stop # 9

We walked the sidewalk along the metro line from Nau Vitória to the next stop of Nasoni. About 5 minutes. We saw almost nothing along the way. Very little traffic. We didn’t think anything would be more boring than the last stop – but we were wrong.

This is the first metro stop since we've lived here where we saw no one waiting on either side of the track - including trips after midnight. And this was at 5:00pm on a Monday!
The Português respect all the arts. This street is named for the guy that founded The Puppet Theatre of Porto. Of course the street is just 140 yards long...
"Lava-me pouco." Wash me little.

Contumil – Metro Stop #10

We walked on to the next stop, Contumil following the line. This is where it starts to feel like the edge of Porto. Or, at least you can see the edge ahead. But, the area around this stop is still really boring with a few sterile apartment buildings and highways.

This stop is a stone's throw from the next stop which is under the fútebol stadium you can see here.
And yet we all do.
When graffiti and peeling paint become the best shots available, you gotta break out photoshop.
"House of the Valley - Grow up" At least the door is easy to find in this big, sterile complex.
