There’s nothing like choosing a dull, overcast afternoon to knock-out the three most boring metro stops out of 82. We hope…
Nau Vitória – Metro Stop #8
“Build it and they will come. ” Only they didn’t. If they don’t film movies here, they should. Our hunch is that when they built this extension to the metro line in 2010, this stop was to give service to the then nearly-new railroad operations center located here. They probably thought other businesses & apartments would follow. But, nine years later, it feels pretty desolate. Yet you can see the Levada stop with the big mall not far away. This metro stop is big, modern, and clean with automatic escalators. It is below grade with a round-a-bout above it. There are plenty of spaces for commuter parking but just a handful of cars on a Monday afternoon. There was almost no traffic on the road other than a student driver that circled a couple times.
Nasoni – Metro Stop # 9
We walked the sidewalk along the metro line from Nau Vitória to the next stop of Nasoni. About 5 minutes. We saw almost nothing along the way. Very little traffic. We didn’t think anything would be more boring than the last stop – but we were wrong.
Contumil – Metro Stop #10
We walked on to the next stop, Contumil following the line. This is where it starts to feel like the edge of Porto. Or, at least you can see the edge ahead. But, the area around this stop is still really boring with a few sterile apartment buildings and highways.
